Jennifer Aniston has been enjoying her summer by taking some time off to go on vacations with her friends, which explains why she hasn’t been seen out much. The 50-year-old Friends actress recently made an appearance to share her thoughts on InStyle’s 25-year anniversary and she appeared to have a gorgeous tan. During a video chat with InStyle’s editor-in-chief, Laura Brown, the Murder Mystery star looked deeply bronzed and glowing.
Shining bright! Jennifer Aniston has been laying low this summer, enjoying vacations with her friends. That’s why it’s no surprise that the 50-year-old former Friends star looked absolutely radiant as she made an appearance this week to celebrate InStyle’s 25-year anniversary, sporting a gorgeous tan.
In a recent Instagram post from Laura Brown, the editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine, the star of Murder Mystery appeared with a rich tan as she settled in for a video chat. Jen was sporting a light grey tank top, revealing her toned arms adorned with gold bracelets and a classy Rolex watch. She paired the top with high-waisted jeans cinched with a brown belt, complemented by a collection of necklaces for a relaxed yet chic ensemble. Her blonde hair cascaded down, and despite being 50, she appeared remarkably youthful with smooth, wrinkle-free skin.
Jen’s style: She was dressed in a pale grey tank top, flaunting her toned arms adorned with multiple gold bracelets and a stylish Rolex watch.
So stylish: Brad Pitt’s former wife paired high-waisted jeans with a brown belt and multiple necklaces for a casually chic ensemble. Her blonde hair was worn loose, and at 50, she looked remarkably smooth and youthful.
Back in the 90s, Jennifer Aniston found herself on the cover of an issue from May 1999, posing naked while strategically holding a sheet over her chest. This was during her time on the popular TV show, Friends. Aniston humorously recalled a past InStyle cover story titled ‘What Is Sexy Now’, where the photos were divided into three parts – first her legs, then her torso, and finally her face. She playfully quipped that she had been sliced into three pieces and was thankful to still be in one piece.
Only the legs: The celebrity playfully commented on the layout of one of her previous cover stories in InStyle, titled ‘What Is Sexy Now’. She humorously noted that the first spread featured only her legs.
Comedian Jennifer Aniston made a joke about being in three pieces on the cover of a magazine spread from May 1999. She was pictured naked, covering her chest with a sheet at the height of her fame from the TV show Friends.
The editor’s caption on Instagram celebrated the anniversary of the magazine with a photo of Aniston, saying, ‘WHAT IS IT?!’ and mentioning 15 former cover stars. Aniston is currently working on an Apple series with Reese Witherspoon about morning show hosts.
Ten years ago: The magazine was released during her time on Friends.
Aniston also discussed her past experiences with InStyle in the interview.
Reflecting on all seven of my InStyle covers feels like flipping through a yearbook. It’s strange but amazing to have these little reminders of my career. Growing up in this industry in front of everyone has its challenges, especially going through puberty in the public eye.
At the start of Friends in 1994, we were all excited and naive. We had no clue about the success that was coming our way. Courteney Cox recently shared a throwback photo on Instagram of us on a jet before the show even aired. I couldn’t grasp the reality of that time. The amount of gratitude I feel is overwhelming.
The girl with the hoops also sported matching gold hoop earrings and a necklace.
In 1996, I landed my first magazine cover. It was a surreal experience filled with new and exciting moments. I never imagined it would actually happen. I can still recall my short hair styled to look wet that day. It’s a hair legacy I’m proud of. I had big goals, girl! It took me a while to get comfortable in front of the camera. The first shoot took place at my home, which helped ease my nerves. I remember posing and thinking, “I need to figure this out.” It wasn’t natural for me since it was so different from my everyday life. But holding that actual magazine in my hands was a cool moment.
Reflecting on the ’90s always brings a wave of nostalgia. It was a simpler time, one filled with a sense of safety in the world. We weren’t bombarded with information like we are today. Even if there was chaos, it wasn’t constantly in our faces. There was a lighter atmosphere and more human connection.
Back then, Fred Segal on Melrose was a popular spot. I still cherish my Maharishi pants from that era. I had a collection of them, including a stunning pair of orange ones with intricate embroidery and a dragon design on the back. I regret that I only have one pair left now.
A new reveal: The editor in chief also dropped a fresh image of Jennifer for all to see.
Reflecting on her time on Friends, Jennifer shared, “I started to find my confidence when I was on Friends, for sure. In a way, being on that show was the ultimate trust exercise. There was comfort in numbers there, so we all held each other up. I miss a lot about that time. Having a job that was absolute, pure joy. I miss getting to be with people I love massively and respect beyond words. So, yes, these days I’m super nostalgic. Anything can make me go, “Aww.” Even Fred Segal, I guess. I don’t know why that one got me. [laughs]”
Recalling a past magazine cover shoot, she chuckled, “In 1999, oh, wow, I think I posed on the cover with just a sheet. It feels ironic to be anointed as “sexy.” I always thought Lauren Hutton was sexy. Bombshell wasn’t really my thing. I thought natural, cute, and funny was sexy, you know? At the time I think we were broadening our ideas of what sexy actually meant, so to be put in that category, I was like, “Oh, this is nice.” But, no, I didn’t have a “sexy” banner around my waist or start going to “sexy” school or anything like that. Some days you’re hot, and some days you’re not.”
Reflecting on her past fashion choices, Jennifer noted, “Looking back, I did have some really epic looks. That’s always fun to be reminded of. It’s a positive that comes from being documented your whole life. And you gotta take the good with the bad! Still, I think the best part of the red carpet is the end of it. The entrance is like, “Ugh.” And leaving it is like, “Ahh.””
In the past, she spoke about finding her confidence during her time on Friends, describing it as a trust exercise where the cast supported each other. She misses that time but now values living in the present and taking time to appreciate the little things, like watching roses grow in her garden.
Currently, she is focused on finding peace and fulfilling her creative ambitions. She is proud of her new project, The Morning Show, which challenged her emotionally but reminded her why she loves acting. She feels like she has finally discovered her creative identity and takes ownership of her capabilities, which brings her fulfillment.
Reflecting on her personal growth, she describes herself in three words at different stages of her life: “Sweet, Naïve, Young” in 1996, and “Strong, Knowing, Excited” today. Joining her in video chats are fellow stars like Jennifer Garner, Halle Berry, Meg Ryan, Michelle Pfeiffer, Demi Moore, and Drew Barrymore, with Julianne Moore as the cover star.
Nice job: The recent film Murder Mystery on Netflix starring Adam Sandler was a major success for her.
